”I was born in Newark, New Jersey but grew up in North Richmond in the Bay Area of California. After my Mom went to prison on a 25 year sentence, my brothers and I were raised in group homes, then juvenile detention facilities, then jails and prisons. I’ve been through hell and back. I’ve suffered abuse and torture as a child. I’ve been stabbed and I’ve been shot. The only reason I’ve
made it through this darkness is because of music. It saved my life. Allowed me to express myself in ways that I can’t do physically. I can be aggressive on a song without living those things out in real life. It’s a form of therapy that I can’t go without. It taught me how to communicate."
